P-notes. A necessary evil?

P-notes (pn) or participatory notes, as seen in stock markets are much discussed recently.Though i am a novice in this area, i took my time to research through this and try to decide if they are necessary for our economic growth or the issue is just being exaggerated!
What really piqued my interest was that p-notes would indeed guarantee investors from revealing their identity! Well , that would definitely lead to few discrepancies in the stock ( thats what i initially thought).Well to understand this entirely, we should first know what P-notes are
P-notes are used by foreign institutional investors to invest in Indian stock markets without registering themselves with the Securities and Exchange board (sebi) of India.
These are used by hedge funds (which invest through P-notes ) that are not registered by the Sebi to invest in India. Here Indian brokers can buy the stocks and issue P-notes to the foreign investors. The gains acquired go back to the investors. These are issued to the real investors through the FII (foreign institutional investor. But the point is, you have no ways to know who owns them. This may lead to fluctuations in the stock markets leading to a mayhem, which is the case now. The hedge funds are not directly registered to the Sebi and can be operated through sub accounts in FII, which leaves us no trace of the real investor. This can prove disastrous to the economy, because this will lead to sudden fluctuations and even worse can lead to stocks being manipulated by foreign agencies ( whom we cant even trace!).
Almost 30% of foreign investments come through the hedge funds, so a ban on the p-notes has been proposed, which may not be favored by the foreign investors but should be implemented to control the stock exchange and proper use of the FII.

Why were they introduced then?
Well, the limited access to the FII , prompted the introduction of the P-notes, which is a much simpler way to invest in Indian markets.Though they initially had positive impact on the indian stock market, at this stage, they should be banned because of its influence over the stock market and its nature of being manipulative and controlling the stock market if intended.
Maybe they P-notes have few advantages that would help our Indian stock market, but given the circumstances, they are best removed. I hope this issue is prioritized looking into its advantages and disadvantages for the Indian stock market, and the right decision is taken!
I hope this post was useful in many ways and i am happy to have discussed this issue, which i believe should be understood by all of us and discussed over. Any comments or issues regarding this are most welcome. :) I would love to know your opinion!

Time well spent ?!?

Well attending a gre class has been very refreshing after the monotonous college life! Holidays have been pretty interesting this time , swinging between countless hours of boredom and few unpredictable stupid things that happened to me! well i am not going to elaborate on that to avoid "public damage" :D .Reflecting back on the time i spent at blore, i am amused as to how stupid, intelligent, worthwhile n squandered i can be at the same time!!
The best thing is that i learn t how to cook!! Mom was flabbergasted seeing my cooking 'skills'! Before you ask, let me tell you, everyone liked what i cooked!! everyone i emphasize! Started off with the masala chai which was fantastic! Then tried my hand on making baingan fry!
Well that was the best part, it took me an hour to dissect the brinjal to find those hidden worms, fortunately there were none! Finally after hell lot of efforts, there it was my magnum opus baingan fry! Phew, i dunno how my mom manages to make all these stuff! Time well spent! Other delicacies include aloo fry (which i named lovingly as aloo 65! ), biriyani, dal and what not!
well this was just the beginning, what else did i do??hmmm... not to forget i watched so many movies that i lost count of how many times i watched the same movie!I was so bored that i used to listen to the dialogues alone, bored of watching the movie.I was so enthu the first few days to utilize my hols and started off with the word power. Having spent a day on it i felt i mastered al most all the words starting with 'a'! i know. this part refers to me being stupid! So i decided to take a break. Well the break extended for a week and finally i started off with the word power. The first thing that came to my mind was " Did i read all these stuff? " i couldnt remember most of them. Then i learnt my lesson and decided to dedicate myself to gre and study properly ! But i decided to do this after i returned back to chennai! Well procrastination is in my blood! How very me!!
I did surprise myself in many ways. I can actually sit at home idly, watch hell lot of movies, and not to forget, to cook!! Well now iam back to chennai and yes i did join the GRE classes, today being my first day! Awesome classes i must say! I promise you can notice some change in the blogs iam going to post here after! lolz! Well this is what i have been doing past one month.Iam all excited about my classes and work now! And ya i did fail to mention few important incidents or accidents in this post! Big story, you see. Iam bored of telling that to everyone of my friend. When i find mood to write about it, i surely will do!

P.S: Thats not me in the pic! Posted it jus like that. found it fitting (courtesy: somewhere in google images).

Girl power!!

Call me a feminist, i dont care...but i believe that women are superior to men in al ascpects!! i gues evreyone knows Segolene Royal! the one contending for d French presidential election! Leading the socialist front she is an amazing women i hav ever seen.mother to four childeren, her works ,her strength are applaudable.Though she lost d electon by a mere slip (47% in her favour),
she has won many hearts! i guess she lost d election oly because she was a women..comeon not many men wud b happy wid a female president! nyways i dunno wen dese lesser mortals ( the chauvinistic lot ) wil learn to accept facts! I gues u heard this one "har kar bhi jeethna"..thats so true in this case!
We al know abt Indira gandhi, sarojini naidu, prncess diana,n many more.. lets jus focus on d present women. Though iam discussing abt d present women, i possibly cant ignore Mother terresa! how much ever said is defently less! Have you ever seen ny man fighting for the poor or for that reason any social cause? i have'nt! I just adore her !
Hmm coming to the point, let me start abt d girl power in our own country. I just adore n respect Sonia gandhi! Awesome politician...they say she is corrupt or watever, but she wudnt hav survived d indian politics if she were al that goody goody. And wat abt Medha patekar (narmada bachao) ...who can forget her..she is so strong minded, and her will power ..everyone knows! Menaka gandhi, Renuka chowdary, Indra nooyi, d list goes on and on.. How can i possibly forget abt jayalalitha?? She is jus one super women, u jus cant help admiring her for her guts! Suspendin nearly 1lac government employees is not a joke! though she has few bad qualities, d power she emanates ,masks everything. Her mere presence makes a chill run down their spine!
Well my first great influence was Aung san su kyi! Follower of the Gandhian ways, she stood against d al powerfull military rule in myanmar! She was kept under house arrest from 2003 . She was realsed later in 2005 i gues. She was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her achivements and work .Her speeches influenced the youth and she had d whole of Burmese people support! In one of her speeches she told,

"And let me say this morning that when the Burmese government tries to blame the victims for the crime, and say that Aung San Suu Kyi and her party are responsible for their own repression, I can only reply that much the same was once said about Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela and Vaclav Havel. The world is not fooled. And we must not be silent. (Madeleine Albright, US Secretary of State)".

"It is not power that corrupts but fear. Fear of losing power corrupts those who wield it and fear of the scourge of power corrupts those who are subject to it." Fearlessness is the best response to governmental violence. In conclusion she writes that "truth, justice and compassion... are often the only bulwarks against ruthless power." These are the teachings of Buddha.

Knowing her struggle and the pains she took to free burma wil bring tears to your eyes! Jus visit her webpage http://www.dassk.com/index.php to know more!

Few inspiring quotes by women

Cautious, careful people always casting about to preserve their reputation or social standards never can bring about reform. Those who are really in earnest are willing to be anything or nothing in the world's estimation, and publicly and privately, in season and out, avow their sympathies with despised ideas and their advocates, and bear the consequences."
—Susan B. Anthony

"The day will come when men will recognize woman as his peer, not only at the fireside, but in councils of the nation. Then, and not until then, will there be the perfect comradeship, the ideal union between the sexes that shall result in the highest development of the race."
—Susan B. Anthony

"There never will be complete equality until women themselves help to make laws and elect lawmakers."
—Susan B. Anthony

"In passing, also, I would like to say that the first time Adam had a chance he laid the blame on a woman."
—Nancy Astor

(British Politician)

"For what is done or learned by one class of women becomes, by virtue of their common womanhood, the property of all women."
—Elizabeth Blackwell

(The first woman in the U.S. to become a physician)

"My address is like my shoes. It travels with me. I abide where there is a fight against wrong."
—Mother Jones

"Don't compromise yourself. You are all you've got."
—Janis Joplin

"People think at the end of the day that a man is the only answer [to fulfillment]. Actually a job is better for me."
—Princess Diana

"In my heart, I think a woman has two choices: either she's a feminist or a masochist."
—Gloria Steinem
